September 30 Back homeWithout blabbing on too much about everything, i had a fantastic trip, we were there for 3 months because obviously Buller got cancelled due to there being no snow, so there goes my chance at TV coverage for the year.
Nonetheless, i got a lot better, i did a lot of doubles, and also with twists, the best i managed was a double twisting double rotation, just for fun i tried it a few times to see if i could do it and i could, so that's always a bonus. Met a girl over there called Megan, who i hung out with for nearly 2 months, was great to have to someone to get away with, who's not involved in the sport.
I'll add some pictures onto this blog;
me helping the girl climb this rock...
megan and myself
me about 10 metres up in the air doing a double rotation, and omg i've got a straight body :O!!!
me with my broken ski that i snapped in half when i landed in the water, that's how hard the landings are on your body, this ski was also fibreglass reinforced to prevent breaking haha.
August 16 August 15th updateHey peoplez
latest update is as follows.
Had a few bad days in the last few days, i'm getting my boots adjusted because i'm very forwards on takeoff which is bad because it make's your rotation slower, it also wrecks your ankles, and i'm certainly feeling it at the moment. struggling to walk up the stairs because it hurts so much. also 2 days ago i had to stop jumping because my neck was too sore to continue, i'm giving it 2 days rest hopefully it will be better by then. so yes, still training on the double kicker, working on and lay-tuck, and a double layout, and FINALLY woop woop, the other day i got the chance to do a full twisting double layout. it was awesome, wasn't pretty but it was fun nonetheless. i'm pretty much going as fast as you want to go on this jump and it's nowhere near as bad as i thought, not that fast in the end.
my new skis are really good, certainly going to be harder to break these.
we went to an ex-member of our team's house the other day, and her husband let me jump off their roof into their pool ahaha, it's great can't wait to show my mum the pic, i'm sure she'll appreciate it somewhat.
our team has deminished to only 4 people at the moment. everyone else has left, one person has quite, and Denita - just the other day tore her ACL on the double kicker. (ligament in your knee - very important)
soon it will be just me and one other girl here because the rest are leaving for a break around the 20th August. so i'll be bored. lucky i have additional friends to hang out with... yes... it's true! ;P off topic - in the past few weeks i've seen a destruction derby, where the cars run into each other and destroy themselves, and also a rodeo which was way cool.
don't forget to email me, i know i don't get back to people so quickly, because i don't have a computer, but i still love reading stuff when i can.
Unfortunately i won't be home for my bday either, so i'll just celebrate with myself woop woop.
take care - i will if you will :P
Davo July 22 Camp 1And so the first camp comes to an end. And i have managed to survive the whole thing without missing a training session or taking an additional day off, no injuries or anything. and in my first month i have learned a good layout, full twisting layout and just figured out how to double twist as well. i moved onto the double kicker 2 days ago and have so far done 19 doubles, it's not so scary anymore and i'm really enjoying launching higher and higher.
At the moment i'm not sure what is going to happen with Buller, not sure if i will be able to jump much if at all because there won't really be a single kicker, unless i'm really good at doubles by then i might even consider staying here to train more. At the moment it is a week off, and i am currently sunbaking outside with the rest of my team. good times!
another month of training to come and we'll see how it goes from there, so far it's looking promising for me i think, as i'm starting to really get into it and test out what i'm capable of doing. That's all for now catcha soon
Davo July 09 Summer '06Well i've been here nearly 2 weeks, i've been training 3 days in a row and then a one day rest. we jump twice a day in 2-2.5 hour sessions, each session aiming for about 20 jumps or so.
Already i've done about 280 jumps, finally getting the hang of it again, it was discovered that i was trying to hard to go higher and rotate and get the right shape that i was actually wrecking my shape. So infact, in order to get the right shape i had to start not trying as hard, and actually relax in order to do the right thing, so that's pretty easy hey! Weather over here is lovely, pretty hot! hard to sleep.
The facilities are awesome, and so are all the athletes there, not only am i training with the Australian girls team, but along side us are people like Ryan St. Onge, Joe Pack, Jeret Peterson (American Team) not all are jumping but they're all around. After jumping i like to bounce on one of the 3 inground tramps, all extremely bouncy, i don't dare jump as high as i can.
So yes i'm loving it as always, looking forward to Mt. Buller this year WOO!!!
Hope everyone is well, please let me know, i'm not on email much but i'll reply to you Davo June 25 Off to Utah... againTomorrow i head of to Utah for the second time this year, but instead of jumping on snow it'll be on the water ramps this time. Hopefully i'll be able to rip out some of the good moves this time, and try some new stuff, because i'm long overdue for that.
I'll be there for 2 months, and i'll get back here in time for the World Cup at Mt. Buller, hopefully i'll be able to jump there too so you might see me... then we'll be going back to Utah again for another few months.
So it's busy busy busy for me, and now that i've finally made the Australian team it's a full time thing. I'll be seeing you around...
